College of Business Advisory Board member Marsha Graesser, Director, Talent Development & Culture for WoodmenLife, talks about the importance of the board’s diverse experience and how that benefits College of Business students.
I’ve been fortunate to experience the power of a Bellevue University education through multiple vantage points. First, I continue to be amazed by the depth and diversity of professional knowledge that my fellow Advisory Board members bring to the table and how that informs the student experience. It’s a reflection of the importance that Bellevue University and the College of Business place on real-world experience and innovation. Our board includes leaders from the retail, finance, manufacturing, procurement and not-for-profit sectors, just to name a few. As a board, we leverage our diverse experience to not only grow our own organizations, but to advise the College of Business and help ensure its programs remain as relevant and forward-thinking as possible.
In my role as Director, Talent Development & Culture at WoodmenLife, I have seen the value of Bellevue University as a corporate learning partner. Our employees have nearly limitless options for continuing their education, but Bellevue University continues to be the number one choice. I also experienced the power of a Bellevue University education as a student, a perspective I believe is valuable in my role as an advisory board member. Many adult learners are going back to finish their degrees. They don’t start with a learning curve. Most start with a “learning cliff” – a jumping off point. My experience as a student was about connection – connection to other students, connection to the curriculum and connection to the instructors. Now I’m proud to continue those connections in such a meaningful way as a member of the College of Business Advisory Board.
