Angela Longe, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, MBA
Associate Professor, Program Director
Angela Longe learned immediately in her professional career the importance of “Real Learning for Real Life.” In her first job out of college, Longe was thrust into the role of a one-person HR department for an organization. She soon realized she had been taught the necessary “textbook knowledge” in her undergraduate program, but not the “real world” HR knowledge she needed from day one. Now as an associate professor with the College of Business who teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses, and director of two Human Resources master’s degree programs, she helps ensure graduates enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge necessary to immediately succeed. “The need to incorporate both textbook knowledge as well as more practical, ‘real-world’ knowledge has always been the driving force behind our curriculum development,” Longe said.
“I see this as a competitive advantage that a lot of other HR programs do not offer.” She also is passionate about career development, a trait she shares with most HR professionals. She notes that career development is “baked” into the curriculum for both the HR master’s and bachelor’s degrees at Bellevue University. Considering all this, it’s no surprise to Longe and her College of Business colleagues that the HR programs have seen such rapid enrollment growth over the past few years.
